Well. Where to even start? Have you heard there was a blizzard? We got a ton of snow here in our neck of the woods. It's beautiful but I'm glad DH is home to help DS shovel this time. LOL
My parents are in Dallas, TX where they got more ice and snow than they are used to getting. I spoke with my mom this morning as usual to see how they are doing and she told something I find very disturbing. I may have misunderstood but I really don't think so. The power company there is shutting the power off in intervals all over town. According to my mom it's supposed to be for about 15 minutes or so. My cousin's was out for at least an hour and my parents know others who have gone without for 3 hours or more.
Here is the thing that kills me. I guess you've probably heard that the Super Bowl will be in Dallas this weekend. Well, with all the festivities and meetings and such they have asked that the Dallas Convention Center's power not be turned off so that they can continue. Hmm...
Here's the clincher. One of the local hospital's power was shut off. What? Ok, so they have a generator. That's great and I'm so very glad but really folks, when did the NFL become more important than sick people in the hospital? Why is it more important than the individuals who are having to go without for hours? Some of them elderly? WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE????
I just don't understand this mindset. Don't get me wrong. The Super Bowl will be on in my house on Sunday (though I'll probably be reading) but it shouldn't be this important. I'm really appalled by this. I am completely blown away. I don't know what else to say. I started to type "someone please explain this to me" but then I realized that I don't want it explained to me. It's wrong and there is no explaining it away for me.
Sorry friends. Just had to let this out. Now I think I will go grab shovel and help DH and DS for a bit. You know, work off some of these frustrations. Have a wonderful day.

When I saw this on the news, I thought the EXACT SAME THING tonight! RIDICULOUS! They said it was for safety purposes... but I say BALONEY!
